Out with the Old, In with the New: Replacing Your Martial Arts Mat Covering

As a martial arts studio owner, you know how important it is to have a safe and functional dojo space for your students. One of the essential components of this space is the mat covering or ring covering. Over time, these covers can become worn out and need replacement. In this blog post, we'll discuss the options for replacing your old canvas dojo mat or vinyl boxing ring cover and the benefits of doing so.

Option One: Canvas Dojo Mat covering
Canvas Dojo mat covering is an excellent choice for gyms that cater to all types of martial arts. This type of flooring is exceptionally durable and promotes excellent stability and responsiveness underfoot. Unlike vinyl, it’s easier to clean and far less prone to slippery spills. If you're looking for something that will stand up to heavy use and provide a solid foundation for your students, then canvas dojo mat covering is an excellent option. Our coverings are #8 (18 oz per square yard) cotton duck, sewn with double French seams and double needle lock-stitched 3-ply hems with brass spur grommets all around the perimeter.

Option Two: Vinyl Boxing Ring Covering
Vinyl Boxing Ring Covering is ideal for Boxing and MMA enthusiasts. Durable and resistant to punctures, vinyl covering is an excellent choice for studios hosting grappling and stand-up training. Compared to traditional canvas, it’s easier to clean as vinyl rings can be wiped off with a soft cloth, ensuring that the mat remains hygienic for the students. We sew custom 18 oz vinyl coated polyester mat covers with heat sealed seams, double needle lock stitched 3-ply hems with brass spur grommets around the perimeter. We have many colors available to choose from.

Benefits of Replacing Your Mat Coverings
Reaping the benefits of replacing your mat covering cannot be over-emphasized; these benefits include clean and hygienic training surfaces, assurance of durability, the assurance of a reasonable slip-resistant platform, and reduced injuries. Many players in the martial arts industry agree that replacing these mat coverings should be an integral component of maintaining your studio's operational standards.
