A Fun and Memorable Way to Spend the Evening

Remember movie nights with the family back when you had to go to a store and rent a video? Those days always felt so special. The reason? Intentionality. It took time. It took effort. It involved the whole family. If only there were a way to recreate that feeling.

Here at Tarps.com, I think we have just the thing.

Throw in the popcorn, grab a blanket, and lets watch a movie in the backyard!

Choose the Space

Find a flat part of your backyard so that when you put your frame together, it rests evenly.

If you don't have a flat surface to mount, no worries! The wall of your home could be a prime spot too. Just be sure to grab some rubber cords from Tarps.com and try hanging the screen from your windows. If that doesn't work, try finding some trees that are close together and hang your screen between them.

Materials for a Tarps.com frame

What you'll need:

2 - 1" Closed T fittings

2 - 1" L-shaped 2-way fittings

2 - 1" Flat Open L-shaped 2-way fitting

2 - 10' EMT pipes

2 - EMT pipe cut to the width of the screen

1- Screen (either white poly tarp or canvas)

1- Pack of ball bungees

(Optional) 2 - EMT pipes cut to 4'

Building the Frame

Start by laying out your 10' EMT pipes. Then slide one of your flat open L 2-way fittings on each pole. Then place one L-shaped fitting on one end of each pole and one closed T fitting on the other end. Tighten down the fittings.

Slide your L-shaped open fitting on the 10' EMT pole and adjust it to a little more than the height of your screen. Tighten the fittings.

Take out the EMT pipes cut for the width of your screen and place one of the pipes into the L-shaped fittings on the top of the frame and one into the open fittings that you adjusted for the height of your screen. Tighten the fittings.

Before you lift your frame up, I suggest that you attach your screen to the frame while it is lying down. This would make it easier for you in the long run.

To attach your screen, open your pack of ball bungees and lay out your canvas or poly tarp. Attach the corners of your tarp to the corners of the screen. Then attach ball bungees to the rest of the grommets on the tarp.

Now you can lift your fame up, grab your projector, and create awesome memories with your family just like when you were a kid!

Optionally, you can add 4' EMT poles to the base of your frame to add stability.

Conclusion

Outdoor movie nights are easy to set up, low cost, and packed with fun. With a durable white tarp from Tarps.com, your backyard can become a cozy theater under the stars. Add lights, snacks, and a projector, and you’re ready to roll. Whether it’s a one-time event or a new family tradition, this simple setup delivers unforgettable memories.
